A driver who fled a Colorado State Patrol traffic stop on the Western Slope on foot then jumped into a canal and did not resurface.
The incident happened near Palisade and a search for the man was ongoing Tuesday night, according to the state patrol.
Multiple agencies are engaged and search & recovery efforts in the area of exit 42, near Palisade CO. A male occupant of a vehicle fled a CSP traffic stop on foot & entered the Highline Canal going under the water and not resurfacing stop occurred . Heavy police presence🚔🚔

After fleeing a traffic stop the man got into the Highline Canal, near I-70 exit 42, disappearing under the water and not resurfacing, the CSP said.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were aiding the state patrol in search and recovery efforts.
