The Wheat Ridge Police Department is responding to police activity southwest of Lakeside Amusement Park on Wednesday, officials said.

Residents near the 4300 block of Newland Street are being asked to shelter in place.

“Otherwise, stay out of the area,” read a tweet from the police department.

Sara Spaulding, spokeswoman for the Wheat Ridge Police Department, was on her way to the scene around 10:30 a.m. She had no further information about the situation.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
