Going to the movies is a summertime tradition, especially under a beautiful evening sky in Colorado.

Most are free, and the others are reasonably priced. Show times are typically at dusk — around 8:30 p.m. Many offer family-friendly activities beforehand, so get there early. (Plus, the early bird gets the best seats. Don’t forget to bring chairs and/or blankets.)

And, if you don’t pack your own picnic or snacks, most offer concessions for sale — everything from the usual movie snacks to beer and wine for adults. Here’s what’s flickering in the dark this summer …

Denver Film Society’s (Morrison): Select dates at dusk from May 15 to Aug. 13, Cost: $15.

(Denver): Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows double-feature from May 25 Sept. 2, Cost: $10 per person, children (6 and under) are free.

(Commerce City): Every night shows triple-feature from April 19 to Sept. 2, Cost: $8 per person, children (11 and under) are free.

(Firestone): Select Fridays at dusk from June 1 to Aug. 10, Cost: Free.

(Castle Rock): At dusk on June 2 and July 14, Cost: Free.

Stapleton’s (Denver): Select Fridays from June 1 to Aug. 17, Cost: Free.

Erie’s (Erie): At dusk on June 2, July 14 and Aug. 25, Cost: Free.

Infinity Park’s (Glendale): Bi-weekly every Monday at 7:30 p.m. from June 11 to Aug. 6, Cost: Free.

Westminster’s (Westminster): At dusk on June 15, July 13 and Aug. 24 at Legacy Ridge Golf Course, Big Dry Creek Park and City Park, respectively, Cost: Free.

Aspen Grove’s (Littleton): At dusk on June 14, June 28 and July 12, Cost: Free.

Elitch Gardens Theatre’s (Denver): On select Fridays at dusk from June 15 to Sept. 14, Cost: $7 for adults (21 and older), $5 for students (ages 7 to 21) and kids (6 and under) are free.

Fairmount Cemetery’s (Denver): At dusk on June 16, July 28 and Aug. 25, Cost: Free.

(Thornton): Saturdays at 8 p.m. on June 16, June 30, July 21 and Aug. 11, Cost: Free.

Promenade Shops’ (Loveland): Every Friday at 7 p.m. from June 29 to July 27, Cost: Free.

(Parker): At 6 p.m. on July 14 at O’Brien Park, Cost: Free.

Southlands’ (Aurora): Every Wednesday at dusk from July 25 to Aug. 15, Cost: Free.

(Northglenn): Every Wednesday at dusk from July 25 to Aug. 15, Cost: Free.

(Highlands Ranch): Every Friday at dusk from Aug. 3 to 17, Cost: Free.

(Golden): Every Friday at dusk from Aug. 3 to 24, Cost: Free.

(Centennial): At 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 at Centennial Center Park, Cost: Free.
