The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office wants to question three men seen speeding away from the Wolcott gun range after the fire started.
Wolfgang Uberbacher, a Jeep adventure guide, saw the shooters spark the wildfire that has consumed more than 400 acres. One of the men was using a semi-automatic rifle and firing past targets into the dirt and trees beyond, he said.
The three men have long hair and were driving a red and white truck. A white sedan was also seen leaving the area at the same time at a high rate of speed.
