A man who groped a University of Northern Colorado student in a dormitory shower last year was sentenced on Friday to 12 years in prison, according to authorities.

Prosecutors say 27-year-old Carlos Gallegos peered over a shower stall and watched the student as she showered on Feb. 4, 2017, in UNC’s Wilson Hall.
He then, according to a news release from the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, slid under the stall where the student was showering and told her: “I’m just seeing how slippery the floors are.”
Gallegos then reached under a towel and grabbed the student’s buttocks as she tried to exit the shower, the release said.
Gallegos pleaded guilty in April to charges of felony burglary of a building and unlawful sexual contact.
Krista Henery, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said Gallegos was also ordered to serve five years of sex offender intensive supervised probation upon his release from prison.
