If Denverites can get through one more 90-degree day, local meteorologists predict a reprieve, with temperatures expected to drop almost 20 degrees from Saturday to Sunday thanks to an incoming storm.

The storm is likely to land Saturday with the potential to rain between noon and 1 p.m. in the Denver area and a slight chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The day could be a bit overcast as storms roll in. The strongest storms are forecast along the far northern plains near the Wyoming and Nebraska state lines. Meteorologists warned storms along the northern plains could bring damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to 1 inch in diameter and heavy rain.

The mountains also are expected to get a downpour Saturday.

Sunday could rain on Denver’s PrideFest parade, but that shouldn’t stop revelers from enjoying the events. After a stretch of scorching days, Sunday’s high of 75 degrees with thunderstorms and showers likely in the afternoon and into the evening should be its own cause for celebration.

It could rain so hard Sunday that meteorologists warn about localized flash flooding.

The beginning of the work week is expected to stay stormy, with temperatures hovering in the 70s and thunderstorms making frequent appearances.
