Colorado Springs police detained four people and arrested one of them for investigation of stabbing three people late Sunday night following a high speed car chase and subsequent foot search that ended when a K-9 tracked him down, authorities say.
One victim suffered a life-threatening stab wound to the chest, but is currently in stable condition; a second victim was stabbed in the stomach and is expected to survive; and a third victim received a superficial cut on the hand, according to a Colorado Springs police report.
The juvenile suspect is being held for investigation of two counts of attempted first degree murder and vehicular eluding.
Police were called at 10:06 p.m. to Gold Camp Road and Hydra Drive about an attack by four to six Hispanic males estimated to be between 18 and 22 years old. Officers responding to the call saw a car speeding away from the scene of the assaults and gave chase.
The juvenile suspect drove into a dead-end cul de sac in the 200 block of Gold Claim Terrace, stopped the car and took off running. Police detained three passengers who were still in the car.
A K-9 named Tank tracked down the fourth suspect, who then surrendered, a police report says.
