The complete fire ban in Rocky Mountain National Park instated on July 6 is now lifted, replaced by the park’s standard Stage I fire restrictions.
Stage I fire restrictions mean campfires are not allowed in the park unless they’re built within a designated campfire ring in picnic areas or front-country campgrounds, according to a news release from national park officials.
Don’t be afraid to pack some patties and hot dogs as disposable or portable charcoal grills, wood fuel camp stoves and gas grills are OK to use. Fireworks are always prohibited within the park.
The last time a total fire ban was put in place in Rocky Mountain National Park was June 2012, the release said.
Hot temperatures, dry conditions and winds caused multiple national parks in Colorado to institute strict fire bans earlier in the month as wildfires raged across the state.
Park visitors are asked to use caution regarding the use of fire in authorized locations and to look for additional information on fire conditions at or call the park’s information center at 970-586-1206.
