The downtown Boulder property that formerly housed the Pop-Up Bar has surrendered one of the city’s rare tavern liquor licenses after police say a University of Colorado student got drunk there before dying in Boulder Creek this past February.
The owners of the property at 1109 Walnut St. — which has in the past housed the Foundry, Absinthe House and Boulder House — agreed to surrender the license to the Boulder Beverage Licensing Authority after pleading no contest July 17 to “failing to conduct the premises in a decent, orderly and respectable manner,” according to city records.
Mishawn Cook, Boulder’s licensing manager, confirmed the tavern license was formally revoked on Friday.
The Pop-Up Bar closed in May, and, according to a city application, the plan is now for the building to house a “food hall restaurant” called Nomad Station.
The building is owned by Walnut Alliance LLC, but the registered party for the LLC is Cheryl Liguori, chief executive officer of Z2 Entertainment, which operates the Boulder and Fox theaters.
