Colorado’s best prep wrestler is taking his talents to Tempe.

Ponderosa senior Cohl Schultz, already a three-time state champion and a cadet world champion, announced he’s committed to Arizona State via his Twitter on Tuesday night.

Schultz won the 220-pound title as a freshman and sophomore before dominating his way to the heavyweight crown via an undefeated campaign last year. This winter, he’s the heavy favorite to win again and become the state’s first four-time state champ above 200 pounds.

The heavyweight has a stated goal of winning an Olympic gold medal, which would make him the first native Coloradan to do so. In choosing the Sun Devils, Schultz passed over a litany of other college offers from just about every major Division I wrestling program.
