“Boulder County Coroner’s office will not release positive identification until completion of an autopsy,” park spokesperson Kyle Patterson wrote in a press release. “However, it is believed that the body is that of Brian Perri, 38.”

Perri set out on a 14-mile day hike to the top of Mount Meeker June 30, parking his car at the Sandbeach Lake Trailhead. Meeker is a Class 3 mountain located near Longs Peak. It’s just shy of 14,000 feet.

He sent a photo to a friend of himself at the summit that Saturday, but then he never returned.

Rangers found his car still parked at the trail head when they started searching July 5 — the day they were notified Perri was missing.

Perri didn’t have a tent or camping equipment.

The body was found northwest of the summit in steep terrain, according to the release.
