Broncos’ rookie linebacker Josey Jewell was an observer the first five days of training camp. He stretched. He ran. And he waited out an injured hamstring, until finally on Friday, Jewell was cleared to return.

The Broncos’ 109th overall pick admits being patient during that rehab proved difficult.

“You want to get out there. You want to show them what you got. You don’t want to wait for anything,” Jewell said. “You just want to get out there and play and do your best and give them your best self. Itap tough, but I have to try to find something positive.”

Denver held Jewell out of team periods Friday, but he did participate in 7-on-7 and individual drills. Each day is another building block toward a roster spot. The Broncos, relatively thin at inside linebacker, would appreciate a big rookie impact from Jewell.

“Maybe you’re not the fastest guy, but you need to be able to be really technique oriented, really detailed with that kind of stuff,” Jewell said. “I think I learned that through high school and college, and they’re still coaching me now, so you can never be perfect.”
