A 7-year-old boy who went missing Monday was found dead following an extensive search involving multiple law enforcement entities, police confirmed late Tuesday night at a news conference.

Police say a death investigation is underway in the disappearance of Jordan Vong, a Montbello boy who had last been seen near Chambers Road and Bolling Drive in Denver at 4:34 p.m. Monday.
Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen addressed assembled media at the corner of 49th Place and Eureka Court, near the Vong family home. The street leading to the home had been cordoned off, and a Denver PD crime scene investigative truck was parked on the block.
Pazen declined to call it a homicide investigation.
“We want to ensure the integrity of the investigation, make sure that we really dive into this to find out exactly what happened,” Pazen said. “We will give updates as they become available.”
Shortly after 8 p.m. a group of Denver police investigators went inside the home. Observers could see the flash of cameras going off inside.
“We want to thank the community members for all of their help and tips as we were looking for Jordan,” Pazen said. “Our investigators will be working hard to answer the questions moving forward.”
The FBI and scores of members from Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force joined Denver police in their search for the boy earlier Tuesday.
Vong’s family called Denver police around 7 p.m. Monday reporting his disappearance, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.
“He’s been gone for a number of hours. You’re not talking about a teenager who may have run away. He’s a little boy,” Jackson said earlier in the day. “Age alone heightens our concern.”
Law enforcement officers interviewed multiple people in the area and searched nearby parks, ponds and vehicles leaving the vicinity.
