Rockies’ all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado abruptly exited the game during the bottom of the fourth inning against the Dodgers on Friday night at Coors Field.

Colorado manager Bud Black initially told the ATT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain broadcast crew that Arenado felt discomfort in his right shoulder following a 3-5-3 double play in the top of the third.

“On the double play, he tweaked his shoulder and we’re taking him out because of precautionary reasons,” Black said. “(Trainer) Keith Duggar thinks he’s going to be okay.”

Arenado’s injury was then officially announced by the Rockies as right shoulder soreness, and after the game the 27-year-old said he’s felt it for about a week but plans to be back in the lineup on Saturday.

“It’s a little tweak and I’ve been playing through it for a while, but it acted up tonight,” Arenado said.
