The Fort Collins man arrested on suspicion of possessing more than 700 videos and 100,000 photos depicting child pornography is nearing a possible plea next month, based on his court appearance Thursday.

Grant Hess, 49, appeared in 8th Judicial District Court Judge Devin Odell’s Fort Collins courtroom with his defense attorney, Sean Patrick Harrell. Harrell requested more time in order to further negotiate with prosecutors.
“We’re still working with the (district attorney’s) office,” Harrell said, requesting another three weeks to either arrive at a plea agreement or go to trial. “We hope to have everything in place when we appear at that time.”
Odell granted the additional time, setting Hess’s next appearance for 3 p.m. Sept. 6 in Division 5A of the Larimer County Justice Center.
At Hess’s most recent July 16 appearance, Harrell said “a lot of discovery” evidence was the cause of the cases’s delay.
