Born from a Kickstarter campaign in 2012, PopSockets fixed the problem of how to hold one's smartphone and scroll with the same hand. The little suction-cup-like handle sticks to the back of the phone and pops out when needed, flattens when unneeded.

Inc. is a business and startup-centric magazine. The list ranks companies based on growth.

“After a hit Kickstarter campaign in 2012 — and several product iterations — the Boulder, Colorado-based business started selling its now-ubiquitous smartphone accessory in 2014,” the list noted. “Since then, the company has hired more than 100 employees and sold over 40 million units worldwide.”

In the past three years, Popsockets has grown 71,424 percent, according to Inc.

“I started with the dream of seeing my invention on a peg at a retail store so that I could say to my friends, ‘Hey, you know, I invented that’, and now it’s blown up into a surreal phenomenon with sales of tens of millions of units around the world,” founder David Barnett said in a statement.
