
When Weld County’s Public Works Department began reconstructing Weld County Road 49 — the largest roads project in county history — officials used aerial photos to see how the project was progressing.
The project took more than a year to complete, and once every quarter, officials had a bird’s eye view of what the five lanes of traffic, large shoulders and turn lanes looked like as they were built.
Officials took aerial photos again for Weld County Road 47, the last stretch needed to connect Colo. 392 to Interstate 76. But they didn’t have quite the same effect.
“It was done so quickly,” said Cameron Parrott, a senior Weld County engineer who oversaw the Weld County Road 47 project.
So, Parrott said with a laugh, the before and after photos of the road looked like this: “Here’s one picture of the old road, and here’s the new road.”
