Severe thunderstorms hit the Front Range once again Friday afternoon, bringing with it high winds, drenching rain and hail.

Colorado Spring was one of the harder-hit areas late in the afternoon, with reports of large hail and torrential rain, according to the National Weather Service.

A bridge in Hanover washed out, according to El Paso County officials, leaving many residents without access to their homes.

In addition, there were reports of flood waters running onto Interstate 25 near Pikes Peak International Raceway south of Colorado Springs, causing delays in traffic. Cars have reportedly been washed off the road. El Paso officials say rescue efforts are underway

Colorado State Patrol said state Highway 96 in Custer County was closed due to rain and hail in a tweet sent out at 4:18 p.m. There were reports of numerous vehicles sliding off the road between mileposts 8 and 10. A single lane was opened up around 5:40 p.m.
