Eagle County to feed every K-8 student free breakfast every day

New food service director plans to offer free breakfast as long as money holds out

That’s Chris DelSordo’s mission. He’s the Eagle County school district’s new nutrition services director, and when the school year starts, so will school breakfast.

Every student in kindergarten through eighth grade is eligible for free breakfast … at least this year

“We’ll see about next year,” he said.

Because so many local students are eligible for free and reduced lunch, every student in every elementary and middle school can have free breakfast if they want it, under federal guidelines.

If a high school student is eligible for free and reduced lunch, then they also get free breakfast, DelSordo said. If you’re not eligible for free and reduced lunch, then you can still get breakfast, but it’ll cost you a couple of bucks.
