Boulder Fire Rescue delivered an unusual gift to a couple at their Lyons wedding on Saturday afternoon — their rings.
It was a nice end to an odd story.
Earlier in the day, the bride and groom — who could not be reached for comment — and their wedding party took a trolley ride up Flagstaff Mountain ahead of their wedding ceremony when tragedy struck.
“We noticed that the trolley was overheating and the driver kept going,” wedding photographer Sarah Martin said. “About 200 feet from Lost Gulch — we were about 200 feet from the parking lot and smoke started coming out of the engine. The driver yelled ‘everyone get out.'”
She said everyone jumped off the trolley, and her husband grabbed the wedding flowers. The best man had left his jacket in the trolley, so the rings were lost when the bus burst into flames and rolled down the mountain.
