A lockout at Ute Meadows Elementary school was lifted Tuesday morning after “suspicious noises” outside the school caused concern, according to a tweet from the Jefferson County school district.
The district said students and staff were safe.
The lockout was announced minutes before 11 a.m. and lifted a few minutes later.
“It’s some kind of loud banging noises,” said Diana Wilson, spokeswoman for the school district. “I don’t know if it was a backfire from a vehicle, but any time we think it could even possibly be a gun, we think we have to have that investigated immediately.”
