
Greeley police arrested two men Thursday after one hid a handgun in a Greeley grocery store and tried to run from officers.
About 2:20 p.m., a 911 caller reported that a man got out of a purple SUV in the King Soopers parking lot, 2712 11th Ave., pointed a gun at occupants in the SUV and got into a gold car, according to a Greeley Police Department news release.
The first officer on scene reported seeing two men get out of a gold car matching the caller’s description and walk toward the store, according to the release. After backup arrived, officers approached the store to contact the men.
Matthew Paul White, 34, of Evans, ran out of the store and west through the parking lot but was later caught. Officers caught the other man, Luis Junior Pena, 46, of Greeley, trying to flee the store, according to the release.
