A family in Lone Tree woke up Wednesday morning to a large and furry new neighbor.
A male black bear — weighing roughly 175 pounds — was spotted hanging out in a tree in the 7500 block of Indian Wells Place, right in the front yard.
Our wildlife officers are working on relocating this black bear out of Lone Tree and back into the mountains.

Wildlife officers from Colorado Parks and Wildlife tranquilized the 2- to 3-year-old bear and safely got it down from its perch.
CPW says it will be relocating the bear, with his fashionable new identification tags, back into the Pike National Forest.

This is the first incident for this bear. Colorado has a “two-strike policy,” under which a bear may be tranquilized, ear tagged and relocated once if they stray too far into town, damage property or become a nuisance. If a bear has to be physically dealt with again, it is put down.
