A burning semi-truck on Sunday evening forced the Colorado State Patrol to close westbound Interstate 70.
Firefighters were scrambling around a blackened truck trying to douse flames, with hoses snaking along the highway. Colorado Department of Transportation crews deployed a front-end loader to try to help the firefighters.
Black smoke billowed. A state patrol dispatcher confirmed the fire was still burning and that westbound I-70 was closed shortly after 7 p.m. on the downhill stretch between the Eisenhower Tunnel and Silverthorne.
