Target practice in Berthoud goes awry after man in building is struck by errant bullet

People target shooting near Berthoud Reservoir Tuesday night hit a building and the stray bullet struck a man inside the structure.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of Clayton Street in Berthoud, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

The gunfire grazed a 44-year-old Johnstown man’s upper torso, according to a news release. The man suffered minor injury and refused medical treatment.

Deputies and Loveland police officers responded to the incident. Two people of interest have been identified and investigators will present the case to the district attorney’s office in pursuit of possible criminal charges.
