Los Angeles, which entered the weekend trailing Colorado by one game in the NL West standings, beat the Giants 10-6 in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon. Manny Machado hit a two-out RBI triple in the top of the eighth inning to break the 5-5 tie and put the Dodgers ahead for good before they broke the game open in the ninth with four more runs.
Colorado, winner of eight straight games, needs a victory over the Nationals tonight at Coors Field to maintain its lead in the division.
Friday, Colorado clinched a playoff spot — no worse than the second wild-card position — when it defeated Washington.
