CHICAGO — The Rockies’ postseason is either on the brink, or just getting started, when they take on the Cubs tonight at Wrigley Field in the National League wild-card game.

Win, and the Rockies advance to the National League division series against the Brewers beginning Thursday in Milwaukee. Lose, and the Rockies go on vacation.

Here are some pregame notes for Tuesday night’s wild-card game:

  • Rockies are in the postseason in consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history.
  • Rockies went 3-3 against the Cubs in 2018 (1-2 at home and 2-1 in Chicago). All-time, the Rockies are98-100 vs. the Cubs (45-52 atWrigley Field)

  • Freeland made one start against the Cubs this season, taking the loss in a 3-2 Cubs win April 30 vs. Jon Lester.
  • Freeland went 9-1 with a 2.49 ERA in 14 starts in the second-half of the season, the lowest second-half ERA by a starting pitcher in Rockies history.
  • This will be Freeland’s first postseason start.
  • Since Sept. 1, Colorado’s bullpen had the third-best ERA in the NL (2.98), trailing only the Brewers (1.98) and Dodgers (2.88). Through August, Rockies relievers had a 5.00 ERA.
  • Lester (18-6, 3.32 ERA), the Cubs’ left-hander, is making his 22nd postseason start.
  • Lester, 7-4 with a 3.32 ERA at Wrigley Field, has started the first game of a postseason series 10 times.
  • The Cubs’ bullpen finished the regular season with the best ERA in the NL (3.34), but it did not finish strong. Steve Cishekfinished with a 4.15 ERA in September,Carl Edwards Jr.a 5.14 ERA andJustin Wilsona 4.50 ERA.
  • Lester pitched the World Series clincher against the Rockies in 2007 when he was a member of the Red Sox.
  • The Cubs are 51-31 at Wrigley Field this season and didn’t have to travel after playing at home in Monday’s tiebreaker vs. Milwaukee. The Rockies had to fly halfway across country on Monday night.
