A search warrant in rural Westcliffe resulted in the arrest of two Cuban nationals, according to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.

Serguey Recondo Palomino, 35, and Yenny Pena Hernandez, 35, were arrested Tuesday by the sheriff’s office with assistance from the Colorado State Patrol at 1089 CR 310 in rural Westcliffe.

Authorities executed the search warrant after a report of a suspected illegal marijuana grow. In the search of the property, authorities reportedly seized 125 marijuana plants, cocaine, a large amount of drug paraphernalia, marijuana growing equipment and one trailer used for transporting marijuana.

According to the press release, the illegal marijuana was being grown in the basement of the residence and in a detached metal building on the property.

Palomino and Hernandez were charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana and child abuse. Palomino was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
