Laviska Shenault was spectacular once again, and the finally proved they can beat a good team.
Shenault’s four touchdowns led the 21st-ranked Buffs to a 28-21 victory against Arizona State on Saturday in front of the largest crowd at Folsom Field in eight years.
Colorado (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) remains the only undefeated team in the conference and is off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 1998.
CU sold 52,681 tickets for Saturday’s game, which put Shenault’s talent and CU’s toughness on display against the Sun Devils (3-3, 1-2). Coming into the day, CU’s wins came against teams with a combined record of 1-16.
Against the Sun Devils, the Buffs were physical, played tough on defense in the second half and, of course, let Shenault do his thing.
A sophomore who has exploded onto the scene this season, Shenault caught 13 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns and scored twice on 1-yard touchdown runs out of the wildcat formation.
Travon McMillian added 136 yards on 30 rushing attempts, often plowing through the ASU defense for gritty yards. was great once again, too, completing 24-of-33 passes for 328 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Defensively, the Buffs held ASU to just seven points in the second half, and none in the final 28 minutes.
