Offense — F-

The Broncos piled up yards when it didn’t count (in the fourth quarter). This is a unit that can’t sustain anything. rushes for 29 yards on the opening series, but the Broncos punt. They move to the Jets’ 7 but then commit a penalty. They gain 17 yards after ’s interception but give up a sack that takes them out of field goal range. On and on it goes. And now the pass protection is starting to spring leaks (four sacks), allowing Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams to break out of his recent bout of non-productivity (two sacks).

Defense — F

It was the day the rush defense collapsed. The Broncos gave up 323 yards rushing, the fourth-most in franchise history. They allowed touchdowns of 77, 76, 35 and 20 yards. They were able to sack rookie quarterback only once. Cornerback Bradley Roby allowed two touchdowns. It looks like his confidence is shattered. The defensive backs and linebackers tackled poorly in space and sometimes took such a bad angle they were out of position to even attempt a tackle.

Special teams — F

The special teams struggles started on the opening kickoff when Phillip Lindsay came out seven yards deep from the end zone, committed a penalty and the Broncos started from their 10-yard line. Punter Colby Wadman, making his NFL debut, overcame two poor attempts to perform adequately. His best punt was 57 yards but it was returned 51 yards. lined up illegally on kickoff coverage. The bright spot on the team five games into the season is kicker .

Coaching — F

Coach Vance Joseph’s final-gasp attempt last year was firing offensive coordinator , but it was too late for a turnaround. Does he make a move on defense before itap too late (if itap not too late already)? Joseph wouldn’t touch that topic after the game, but to buy himself more time, he must take over the defensive play-calling. Joseph had another bad challenge (which he lost) and down 17 points in the fourth quarter, he should have kicked the field goal instead of going for it on fourth down (the Broncos did not convert).

Game Balls

DE Derek Wolfe. His third-quarter interception was the first of his career.

WR Courtland Sutton. He caught his first career touchdown pass (eight yards) and also tracked down Jets safety Marcus Maye at the goal-line to prevent an end-of-game interception touchdown.
