A man’s body was found Friday morning west of the airport in Longmont the day after a woman told police her boyfriend never returned home from a skydiving trip.

A woman called Longmont police shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday to report her 23-year-old boyfriend had not come home from a skydiving trip he had scheduled earlier that afternoon, according to a news release from Boulder County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Wagner.

The man, who lived in Golden, was reportedly an experienced skydiver and had a planned jump with Mile-Hi Skydiving, which is based at Longmont’s Vance Brand Airport, at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Wagner said. Mile-Hi Skydiving did not comment on the death.

Police found the man’s car parked at the airport and, along with deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, began to search an 1-mile radius around the airport. The search lasted until 3 a.m. Friday, then resumed before 7:30 a.m. Friday with a helicopter, Wagner said.

A man’s body was found around 9 a.m. Friday in a field west of the airport in unincorporated Boulder County.
