Three members of a work crew were hurt, with one suffering severe burns, after a fire at an oil tank battery Saturday morning in Weld County.

When Weld County sheriff’s deputies responded to the fire about 9 a.m. in the area of Colorado 14 and Weld County Road 83, they found an oil tank battery fully engulfed in flames, said sheriff’s spokesman Matt Turner.

Initial information suggests the fire started during maintenance operations. Three crew members who were working on the oil tank batter were injured, with two receiving minor injuries. They were transported by ambulance to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

The third crew member was flown to the hospital with severe burns, Turner said.
