A 32-year-old Colorado Springs woman has been arrested for investigation of child abuse resulting in the death of her 2-year-old son.

Melissa Adamson was booked Tuesday in the El Paso County Jail in Colorado Springs, according to a news release from Jacqueline Kirby, spokeswoman for Sheriff Bill Elder.
Deputies were dispatched to Adamson’s home in the 1500 block of Hartford Street on Oct. 21 on a shooting call, Kirby said.
When the deputies arrived at the home, Adamson was holding 2-year-old Loki Richard Bloom in her arms. The child later was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The investigation revealed that the death was not considered a homicide, according to the news release. Details about how the child died have not been released by the sheriff’s office.
“The child was accidentally shot,” Kirby said in an email, without offering further explanation.
