FORT COLLINS — A week of rest was just what the doctor ordered for Colorado State.

The travel team will look a lot different this week as the Rams head to Nevada on Saturday (8:30 p.m.; ESPNU) than if the plane departed seven day earlier. For head coach , that meant good timing for the second bye week.

“I think the No. 1 thing was getting healed up,” Bobo said of last week’s plan at his Monday press conference. “We played the last two games without Emmanuel Jones. We were short some guys up front that were injured. If we would have played a game, (Jan-Phillip) Bombek would have been out, Bisi (Johnson) would have been out, Emmanuel Jones would have probably still been out. Really, getting guys healed up closer to full strength … You’re never going to be at full strength. I know Nevada has a couple of guys out. I think that was the big thing for us.”

As the team starts practice this week, Johnson will still be limited and held out of contact, making him probable. The same goes for safety Jordan Fogal, who didn’t practice much during the bye. Bobo expects Jones, who has missed the past two games after starting the previous five, should be back. So should Bombek, who did start against Wyoming.

The Rams will still be without starting guard Tyler Bjorklund, who has missed the past three games with a high-ankle sprain, with Bobo holding out hope he’ll return for the home finale the following week with No. 14 Utah State.
