How much more would you get back from your ski experience if you pushed an hour-and-a-half farther west to Snowmass, rather than parking the car in Summit County? For starters, imagine a mountain with no lift lines.
“At Snowmass, even on Presidents Day weekend, I may have waited under five minutes,” says John Calhoun with East West Partners.
Snowmass — the storied mountain that is closer to Aspen Airport than Aspen is — offers a super low-pressure, family-styled ski experience. And right now, you could match that to a luxury ski-in/ski-out residence at a very low price per square foot.
“This is a rare chance for whole-ownership in a full-service resort at prices that Vail or Park City would love to offer,” Calhoun says.
His sales team will show you The Viceroy — a luxury condo-hotel that opened beside Snowmass’ Assay Hill lift during the down market of 2009, and that East West has brought back now, just as the base village reveals the first phase of a $600 million makeover.
“This is for someone who puts real value on their time and vacation experience,” Calhoun adds. “You might have to travel a little farther to get here, but when you arrive, itap so worth the effort — luxury services, no lift lines and some of the best skiing on Earth.”
You’ll already find Snowmass wrapped in white from early-season snows, where Calhoun says experts anticipate a great ski season.
Call ahead and East Westap team will give you a priority experience viewing Viceroy’s one- and two-bedroom residences at prices from under a half-million (one bedroom) to one remaining penthouse at $5 million.
East West started last year with 65 units, but less than 20 remain.
You’ll see results of a $5 million transformation at The Viceroy that re-imagined the hotel’s common areas; refashioned its restaurants (including Toro by Richard Sandoval); and created Nest, a poolside/slope-side bar.
Meanwhile, The Viceroy lies amid a 10-year, half-billion-dollar transformation of Snowmass Base Village — a partnership of East West, Aspen Skiing Company and KSL Capital that is the largest ski development project underway in North America.
On Saturday, Dec. 15, Snowmass holds a community-wide grand opening for its first-phase redevelopment, including new hotels and dining, with professional rock climbers, ice skaters, live music, fireworks and great food.
The remaining Viceroy residences (they’re all getting new carpet and furnishings) will be available for private showings, but Calhoun suggests you come look now before the season is too far underway, at prices Snowmass may never see again.
You’ll see the new ice rink, events lawn, Colorado’s highest climbing wall, and a new Lost Forest attraction with mountain coaster and ziplines.
And you’ll hear about an option for using The Viceroy’s residential services team to take care of all your needs, and a robust rental program to add to your cash flow.
Visit the website and call ahead (weekend sales hours begin Dec. 6).
