A portion of West Eighth Avenue in Denver is shut down while officers investigate a two-vehicle, head-on crash at the intersection of Eighth and Mariposa Street, authorities say.
Three people, a female driver and two juveniles, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Eighth Avenue is closed in both directions between Lipan and Zuni streets, according to a Denver Police Department tweet sent at 5:13 p.m.

The crash happened at about 4:20 p.m., police said.
The trio taken to a local hospital with serious injuries were in a Volkswagen sedan. The driver of the Volkswagen was partially ejected from the vehicle. The driver of a Lexus SUV, a man, involved in the crash, was not taken to the hospital.
An investigation is ongoing.
