The best wine grown in Colorado is a Cabernet Franc Reserve bottled by Bookcliff Vineyards in Boulder.

The 2015 vintage created by winemakers and owners John Gralich and Ulla Merz was one of 13 wines chosen as part of the Governor’s Cup Wine Collection in September. On Nov. 8 at a tasting held at History Colorado, the Bookcliff wine was named Best in Show.

There were 344 wines from 49 Colorado wineries in this year’s competition, the most submissions in the Governor’s Cup nine-year history.  The judges were sommeliers, chefs and wine experts from across the U.S.
