Victim identified in Western Slope murder, abuse of corpse case

A 32-year-old man missing since April was identified Wednesday as the victim in a suspected Mesa County murder.

Kyle Free, of Clifton, was reported missing earlier this year, according to a Mesa County Sheriff’s Office news release. On Tuesday, Rebecca Walker was arrested on murder charges in connection with Free’s disappearance.

The 34-year-old Clifton woman is facing charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse, according to the sheriff’s office.

She is being held without bond at the Mesa County Detention Facility. The investigation remains ongoing.
