Regis University’s provost named board chair of evolving Colorado Health Foundation

Janet Houser will help guide $2.6 billion foundation’s “social investing” vision

Provost Janet Houser is the new board chair of the , the university announced last week. The foundation, with $2.6 billion in assets, is the largest organization of its kind in the state.

Houser, the Jesuit school’s and former dean of its Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professionals, has served on the foundation’s board for eight years. As chair of its philanthropy committee, she oversaw more than $500 million in grant awards.

She will now help carry out foundation president and CEO Karen McNeil-Miller’s vision for “social investing,” Regis officials say. Earlier this year, McNeil-Millerthat emphasizes efforts to create more equitable health outcomes across social classes and geographic areas.

“One of the things the health foundation works for is equity: equity in access, equity in healthcare, equity in access to fresh food, equity in the ability to get active, equity in access to primary care providers,” Houser said in a statement.
