First Colorado babies in 2019 born minutes into the new year

New Year’s revelers were still shooting rockets into the air when a tiny baby girl was born at UCHealth Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs.

At 12:04 a.m., Kara Swaney gave birth to Isabelle Sheets, who is at least one of the first, if not the first baby born in Colorado in 2019. Isabelle weighed in at 5 pounds, 3 ounces.

Two other babies were born in Colorado hospitals within hours after the new year.

At 12:13 a.m., Carmella Vigil gave birth to Joaquin Ethan Vigil, at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. Joaquin weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces, according to Sarah Ellis, hospital spokeswoman.

At 2:48 a.m., Joseangel Zacarias Estrada was born at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital.

He was born weighing 6 pounds and 10 ounces and is 20.5 inches long.

Joseangel has one brother who is 3 years old and one sister who is 6.
