A store in north Boulder had dozens of bikes stolen in a New Year’s Day heist.

Boulder police spokeswoman Shannon Aulabaugh confirmed police are investigating a theft at Stradalli Carbon Sports, which has been at 4455 Broadway for about a year and a half.

Owner Tom Stradalli said 31 bicycles, four carbon wheel sets, two carbon mountain bike frames, a full shelf of clothing and various tools were stolen early Tuesday morning, when the shop was closed for New Year’s Day.

In total, Stradelli estimates between $250,000 to $300,000 worth of merchandise was stolen.

Stradalli said it appears the suspects cut power and phone lines at around 2:30 a.m., and waited until the alarm system’s backup battery died about four to five hours later before breaking in.
