Sections of Denver, Edgewater, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge went dark Monday as power outage hit west side

About 7,000 energy customers on the west side were without power Monday, but crews restored electricity to the vast majority by about 9:30 p.m., according to Xcel Energy.

Crews worked into the night to restore electricity to residents and businesses in west Denver, Edgewater, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge.

Some streetlights went down, with Wheat Ridge police warning drivers to be cautious and treat failed stoplights as a four-way stop.

At 5:05 p.m., Xcel said 6,295 customers were without power. By 7:45 p.m., customers without power in the area was down to 720. By about 9:30 p.m. there were 41 customers without service.
