A skier at Loveland Ski Area triggered an avalanche in closed terrain, a ski official said Friday.

The avalanche was reported by a guest about 2:34 p.m., said John Sellers, a Loveland spokesman.

A skier had accessed closed terrain within the boundaries of the area and triggered the avalanche, Sellers said.

The ski patrol responded, and the debris field is being searched with the use of beacons, probes and dogs.

Clear Creek County Search and Rescue is also at the scene, along with search teams from neighboring ski areas.

No missing persons or injuries have been reported, Sellers said.
