The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 have been reopened through Glenwood Canyon after a giant rockslide threw huge boulders onto the highway ovenright, authorities say.
The westbound lanes through the canyon remain closed, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
There will be intermittent closures of Eastbound I-70 at Glenwood Springs for safety mitigation throughout the day. Please be patient and courteous and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. Westbound will remain fully closed.

Boulders crashed down onto I-70 in Glenwood Canyon early Tuesday morning during a massive rockslide.
The rockslide about a half mile west of the Grizzly Creek rest area pummeled the westbound lanes of I-70 around 1 a.m., according to a news release by Tracy Trulove, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation.

CDOT’s geohazards team was called to the scene. For safety reasons, crews waited until daylight before evaluating the size of the rockslide and any damage to the highway, Trulove’s news release says.

The highway remains closed to westbound traffic at Exit 133 in Dotsero, according to Trulove.
