Employees at King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado are threatening a strike vote after they say contract negotiations with the supermarkets' owner broke down.

As of this week, King Soopers no longer has any 24-hour stores in Colorado.

The grocery chain’s final five stores that kept the lights on throughout the night will now be open 5 a.m. to midnight, said Adam Williamson, a spokesman for the company.

“The reason really is making sure we have resources where our customers are,” he said. “Making sure during prime time and during the day — when we get the majority of our business — that we have the staff to best serve our customers.”

The changes took effect Feb. 3.

Here is a list of affected stores:

  • 1015 S. Taft Hill Road, Fort Collins
  • 3100 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver
  • 1155 E. Ninth Ave., Denver
  • 12043 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood
  • 4600 Leetsdale Drive, Glendale
