Updated Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m.:Trail Ridge and Old Fall River roads in Rocky Mountain National Park reopened Thursday morning after snow caused the National Park to shutter the iconic alpine routes.
The roads will remain open as long as weather and conditions permit, park officials tweeted.
The park service closed both roads Wednesday night due to forecasted snow.
At 12,183 feet, Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the United States. It connects Estes Park on the east to Grand Lake on the western slope.

Trail Ridge Road, the iconic, high-altitude pass-through in Rocky Mountain National Park, will close Wednesday night due to weather, the National Park Service said on Twitter.
The closure, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will go from Milner Pass on the west side, about 12 miles from the Grand Lake entrance, to Rainbow Curve on the east side, the tweet said.

Old Fall River Road, also in Rocky Mountain National Park, will close Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the park service said.
National Park officials did not say when they expect the roads to reopen.
