Indians 5, Rockies 3
Tuesday at Salt River Fields, Scottsdale, Ariz.

On the mound: Kyle Freeland yielded one run on one hit — a triple — along with one walk and two strikeouts in his first start of the spring. … Cleveland also plated a run against Chris Rusin, two against Rico Garcia and another off Evan Grills while recording homers by Carlos Santana and Daniel Johnson.

At the plate: The Rockies did little offensively with only five hits. Pat Valaika had a fifth-inning double that scored Ryan McMahon, and then Brian Mundell doubled home a pair of runs in the ninth to cut into the deficit.

Worth noting: Following Valaika’s RBI double in the fifth, the Rockies had two runners thrown out at the plate. Raimel Tapia got gunned down off an infield grounder, and then Valiaka was thrown out at home on a failed double-steal to end the frame.

Up next: Angels (3-2) vs. Rockies (2-2), 1:10 p.m., Salt River Fields

Starting pitchers: Angels RHP Trevor Cahill vs. Rockies RHP German Marquez
