DZǷɾԲ and the closure of Loveland Pass due to avalanche activity and unsafe conditions, Arapahoe Basin is set to reopen Saturday.
Alan Henceroth, A-Basin’s chief operating officer, announced the news this afternoon , disclosing that crews intentionally triggered a major slide Friday that reached U.S. 6, leaving snow and timber debris on the roadway.
“Currently, we have snowcats, loaders and plows working to clear the highway,” Henceroth wrote. “This is not a small task. Staff will work well into evening clearing the road.”
He said his staff worked with the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center to get through the ordeal. The area is set to open for normal Saturday hours (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

“We have had a very big couple of days around here,” Henceroth said. “There have been plenty of challenges to work through.”
As of 3 p.m. Friday, Loveland Pass remained closed.
