Indians 7, Rockies 1
Saturday at Goodyear Ballpark, Goodyear, Ariz.

On the mound: Despite feeling under the weather, German Marquez struck out nine in three innings of work. He gave up one unearned run on four hits. … Scott Oberg, looking more and more like a top setup man, tossed a scoreless fourth with one strikeout. In four spring appearances (five innings) the right-hander has allowed no runs, one hit and two walks and has whiffed five. … The Indians roughed up right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez, who’s headed for Triple-A, for five runs on five hits in 1 ⅔ innings.

At the plate:  It was a tough day at the plate for Colorado, though Ryan McMahon extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single. He’s batting .433 to lead the Cactus League. … Infield prospect Tyler Nevin continues to rake (.417), going 1-for-2 with a single. … Third base/shortstop prospect Ryan Metzler drove in Colorado’s only run with an RBI double in the eighth.

Worth noting: Catcher Tom Murphy, battling to make the 25-man roster, got the start and made an excellent pickoff throw to first base, nabbing Roberto Perez to end the fifth inning.
