A city employee driving a trash collection truck struck another employee in the parking lot of a city facility on the 5400 block of Roslyn Street just before 7 a.m. Tuesday causing serious injuries, Denver police said.

The driver was cited with careless driving resulting in injury, said Doug Schepman, a Denver police spokesman.

The man, who was the only person injured in the crash, is also a solid waste employee of Denver Public Works. It is unclear if either were on duty at the time, said Heather Burke, a Denver Public Works spokeswoman.

The man hit by the truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, Schepman said.
